PERMAX
Permax (pergolide mesylate) was introduced in 1989 to treat the signs and symptoms of Parkinson’s disease and restless legs syndrome. In early 2003, the drug has come under much scrutiny for being related to heart valve deficiencies. A study published by the Mayo Clinic in December 2002 found that there was a possible correlation between the drug Permax and valvular heart disease, which prevents the hearts valves from sealing properly. More than 500,000 people have taken Permax since it was approved by the FDA.
